Director Selvaraghavan becomes a father

Director Selvaraghavan has directed films like Kadhal Kondein, 7 G Rainbow Colony, Pudupettai, Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna.

Now he is directing a film titled Erandam Ulagam which has Arya and Anushka in the lead roles.
He loved and married Sonia Agarwal who had donned the female lead roles in the films Kadhal Kondein, 7 G Rainbow Colony and Pudupettai which he had directed.
But later on due to difference of opinions, both of them got divorced by mutual consent. After divorcing Sonia Agarwal, he immediately loved and married his assistant director Gitanjali.
Both of them got married last year. Yesterday evening at 5.25 p m, Gitanjali gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
Selvaraghavan who came to the hospital shared his happiness by distributing sweets to everyone who was in the hospital. The doctors said that both the mother and baby are doing well.

Trisha says that she will be dubbing for Samaran in her own voice

The film Kaavalan which had Vijay and Asin in the lead roles was remade in Telugu with the title Body Guard
This film which has Venkatesh and Trisha in the lead roles has been released recently and is doing well at the box office.
It is understood that laurels are heaped on Trisha for her wonderful acting in this film. Trisha while speaking about this said, "Only once in a way a good story comes my way.

I liked the story of the Telugu film Body Guard very much. My role was splendid because I was able to bring out my feelings. I am getting lots of appreciations for my good acting in this film.
I have compared with the yester year senior actresses like Savithri and Soundarya. I feel it is a great honor for me to be compared with them. Both these actresses were stalwarts in the film industry.

So I don’t think it is appropriate for me to be compared with these stalwarts. In the recent times, this is the good role which I had acted in a Telugu film.

I am getting good roles there. In Mankatha, I have dubbed in my own voice. I will also be dubbing for Samaran in which I am pairing with Vishal."

Thangar to make short-film on Thane storm

Noted film-maker Thangar Bachchan has said that he has just completed making a short-film on the ravages caused by the recent Thane storm which hit the Cuddalore District in Tamil Nadu and the neighbouring Puducherry in an unprecedented manner. People were shown on television scurrying to save their lives while many men tried to hang around electric poles and trees to escape getting carried away by the winds.

Cinematographer-turned-director Thangar happens to be a native of Cuddalore District. As such, he felt so devastated by the tragedy which struck the people with whom he had grown with and mingled all along his life. Thangar is taking special care to oversee the relief and rehabilitation measures that are provided by the Govt. and other bodies for the affected populace.

Thangar is also going on the television media quite often to speak about the tragedy and to raise awareness among the general public requesting them to donate liberally to mitigate the suffering of their brethren. He met press-persons recently. During the course of his interaction with the journos, he revealed that he had made a short film on the tragedy.

“It’s not merely a storm-struck locality; what had occurred was a disaster of worst proportions. I stayed for 3 full days amid the people and collected all the details of the losses suffered by them including agricultural property and other damages. I have recorded them in the form of a short-film which would stand testimony to the untold suffering the people were made to endure.

“I’m sure the authorities haven’t conveyed about the gravity of the situation to Amma who has a kind heart to reach out to the public. There is no drinking water, milk or electricity or ration ships in these localities but the State-owned TASMAC shops are wide open. I wonder how it happened. I appeal to the Govt. to speed up the rehabilitation measures,” said Thangar.

Vadivelu claims he'll be back

The almost-forgotten comedian Vadivelu has put up a brave face indeed. The comedian, who was an integral part of almost every second film hitting the screens not so long ago, hasn’t had a release in almost 10 months except for Prashanth’s Mambattiyan and Ramarajan’s Medhai. Both the films, which released in a space of few weeks, were launched more than two years ago and had been lying unreleased for a long time.

Vadivelu’s bad spell started in the run-up to last year’s April Assembly elections in the State when he campaigned extensively for DMK, the erstwhile ruling party, and its allies. As it turned out later, the DMK was routed in a historical verdict given by the people. As such, Vadivelu’s position became untenable as he couldn’t go back to DMK nor seek friendly ‘atmosphere’ in AIADMK.

Apparently not to irk the present day ruler, not many producers and directors are willing to cast Vadivelu in their films. This has resulted in an ‘unofficial’ boycott of the comedian who hasn’t signed up any film for the past several months. Vadivelu, who appeared in a Natham Court in connection with a ‘violation’ case filed against him by the Election Commission, spoke to newsmen outside the Court.

“I shall continue to act in films what else would I do At present, I’m playing a hero in a new film and have utilized the gap in a meaningful manner to prepare for the role. The hiatus is a planned one on my part (?!) ..I shall continue to act I’ll always be there to entertain the people. I don’t want to say anything about the present political situation,” said Vadivelu.

When asked to comment about rumours of him willing to align with the ruling AIADMK, Vadivelu said that he can’t reply to skeptic questions.

Daniel Balaji plays the lead role in Marumugam

Actor Daniel Balaji hadn’t been spotted much in Tamil films in the year which just slipped by. Many would agree that the actor’s last noteworthy performance was when he played Kishore’s younger brother in Dhanush’s Polladhavan. Though he starred in a few more films after that, he hasn’t able to deliver a telling performance in any of them.

Balaji, who played villain to Kamal in Gautham Menon’s Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu, now gets to play the lead role in an upcoming film titled Marumugam which would be directed by newcomer Kamal. The film is produced by a new production house titled ‘Entertainment Unlimited’. Newcomer Ranya is paired opposite Balaji in the film. Anoop of Chikku Bhukku fame plays the second hero in the film.

Though new to Tamil, Kamal has already penned the story and screenplay of an award-winning Malaysian film titled 12 Hours. Balaji, who also played the lead role in Muthirai a few years back along with Nitin Sathya, gets to play the lead role this time with Anoop. Mumbai-based stunner Ranya is sure to give sleepless nights to Tami youths, it is said. The crew says that she not only possesses killer looks but also has some acting potential.

The triangular love-story involving the trio of Balaji, Anoop and Ranya has been narrated in an interesting by Kamal who says that “Every man has a hidden ‘face’ which doesn’t always display his ‘inner instincts’ and desires. The ‘hidden face’ of Balaji’s character in the film is sure to be a surprise to the actor’s fans. The character has the potential to terrorize the movie-goers, he adds.

Banuchander and Uma Padmanabhan play important roles in the film which is cinematographed by Kanagaraj and ha smusic by Agasthiya, a popular music director in Telugu who would be debuting in Tamil with this film.

Deepika Padukone

Last year Deepika Padukone had two releases to her name (AARAKSHAN andDESI BOYZ) which was far lesser than five of her films that had released a year ago. This year is seemingly lighter again, what with only two confirmed releases (COCKTAIL and RACE 2) in the pipeline though there are chances of YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI arriving as well. What's common though amongst these films is that each of these brings her back in the glamorous zone. For someone who did experimental films like AARAKSHAN and KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SE, it seems she has made a conscious call to apply break on such genres and do some out and out commercial films.

"Honestly, I don't like to segregate films like commercial, middle of the road, art house, new age etc.," says Deepika, "I don't wish to tell audience either to leave their brains behind or bring them along. Come on, a film is a film after all. It's only in India where segregation around commercial and art takes place."

Still, she isn't looking the other way when it comes to acknowledging the commercial viabilities of her films."Of course I am conscious of that," says Deepika, "At the end of the day I am an entertainer and I should be able to entertain the audience in all films that I do. I do understand that there are certain kind of films that are appreciated only by niche audience while there are others which appeal to a larger number. The idea is to mix and match."

Well lady, as long as we can have the ultra glam Deepika entertaining on screen, we won't mind.

Kareena Kapoor rejects SRK's Movie offer

Everyone must be aware of the recent film Ra.One of King Shahrukh Khan. The film industry as well as the people expected rather a grand presentation from King Khan while it had saddened the audience because of its poor performance. Matter of fact it was a high budget film spending 145 core as per the report.
Shah Rukh made a huge marketing towards his film promotion. To make it a super hit box office film he had invested time in addition to his best efforts. Even he brought Akon supposed to be a singer of international fame to India in recent days.
However, at the end of the day Shahrukh became aggrieved in after getting such a bad response to his dream project Ra.One. Nevertheless, King is always the king. Shah Rukh plans for flooring the next succession of Ra.one very shortly. In Ra one he chose the scorching and demanding actress Kareena Kapoor who is equally busy now towards filming of her next coming film.
The media informs that Shah Rukh again wanted Kareena for signing in his next series of Ra.one while the top actress has rejected his offer this time. King is a bit disappointed on this issue. However, he is looking for some other face in place of Kareena. Let us hope all the best for Shahrukh.

Expect A ‘Jab We Met’ From Kareena Kapoor In EMAET

Less than a month remains for the release of EK MAIN AUR EKK TU and debutant director Shakun Batra is confident that just like other Kareena Kapoor starrers, his debut film too would benefit immensely from the presence of an actress of her caliber.

”I know for sure that people would appreciate her performance. She has put a lot of her in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU. In fact this is one of the few scripts which she has read more than twice because she wanted to do something more in the film and grab the nuances well. If I look at the film objectively as a director as well as a member of the audience, I see this as one of her better performances,” says Shakun.

Since the film is set in contemporary times with an urban set up to it, one wonders whether it would risk turning out to be a caricature affair with characters that come across as a tad stereotyped.

”See, the thing is that today many of us moviegoers stay in urban cities,’ reasons Shakun, ‘We dress in a certain way and people around us have seen an urban upbringing too. Yes, filmmakers tend to stereotype urban atmosphere but if we try hard, we can write such characters in 100 different ways. This is exactly the case in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU as well. Yes, it is a romcom with definite Western sensibilities to it. However for the Indian audience, it is going to be a unique experience for sure.”

We just hope that the promise is indeed kept once this Karan Johar production releases all over on 10th February.

Following the huge success of her last film THE DIRTY PICTURE, Vidya Balan is preparing to take her ‘Ooh La La’ tag to newer heights with her very first item song in the Rajesh Mapuskar directed FERRARI KI SAWAARI, under the banner of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films.

Vidya is expected to go ultra-glamorous in the item song. The item song is expected to be a major part of the film. The choreographer is still undecided though the shoots are expected to commence in early February 2012.

The movie FERRARI KI SAWAARI has become the movie of firsts. This is not only Rajesh Mapuskar’s directorial debut, but Sharman Joshi will also play the lead role for the very first time in this movie. And of course, we will get to see Vidya grooving in her very first item number.

Asin's wish-list on Rajinikanth's film

Asin Thottumkal has been waiting for a good script to make her comeback to Tamil films since a long time. The actress, who kept herself busy in Bollywood after Kaavalan, had told before that she would return if any script comes her way. Now, the Ghajini gal, just like other actresses, has expressed her wish to act in superstar Rajinikanth's movie.

Recently, there were reports that Asin was also one of the contenders to play female lead in Rajinikanth's next movie Kochadaiyaan. Reacting to this, she said, “I wish to work with Rajini... If I come across a good project I will certainly act (opposite him)." However, a section of people have raised their voices claiming that they object a Kerala girl acting in Tamil movie due to the ongoing Mullaperiyar Dam row.

Meanwhile, the makers of Kochadaiyaan have signed Sneha to play a key role in the forthcoming Tamil movie. The movie marks the directorial debut of Soundarya Rajinikanth.

S Parthi and S S Vasan are producing a film titled Singam Puli under the banner Silver Line Film Factory. Sai Ramani is directing this film which has Jeeva in dual roles. Divya Spandana and Honey Rose are the heroines of this film.

Vaanam

The much talked upcoming Tamil movie Vaanam has completed almost 90% of shooting and will be ready to release after shooting just parts of a song. The Simbu-Anushka starrer film is all set to release in February during the Valentine’s weekend.

Vaanam is a remake of Telugu movie Vedam, which was released in June this year. Silambarasan will play the role of Cable Raju, which was originally essayed by Allu Arjun. Anushka, who played the female lead in the Telugu version, will reprise her role in Tamil remake. Veteran Praksh Raj will also be seen in an important role in the film.

Some other actors like Bharath, Sneha Ullal and Vega will be seen in vital roles. The script of the film has undergone little change considering the taste of Tamil viewers. Vanaam has one mass kuthu song, which has been picturised on Simbu and Anushka.

Krish is directing the movie, which is being produced by R. B. Chowdary of Supergood Movies. Yuvan Shankar Raja has given music of the film.

Simbhu’s Vaanam will be released on February 3rd

The film Vaanam which has Simbhu and Anushka in the lead roles is to be released on 3rd February. Vaanam is the film in which Simbhu is acting after his super hit film Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya.

Anushka, Bharath, Sneha Ullal, Sonia Agarwal, Vega and Prakash Raj are also sharing the screen with Simbhu in this film. Krish is directing this film. The shooting of this film is in the final stages.
