Suriya’s Maatraan

That Suriya doing five characters in ‘Maatraan’ is no more a secret. But the news is that one among them would feature him in a totally different look, which has been kept under wraps by director KV Anand. “Suriya and Anand were recently in the United States and consulted with make-up coordinators there to design the new look. After taking into consideration five to six designs, they zeroed in on one,” chirps a little birdie. 70 per cent of the shooting is over so far and the remaining is expected to be completed in two months. “Anand is planning to release the movie for Tamil New Year or May Day to cash in on the summer vacation,” the source adds. Being produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram of AGS Entertainment, ‘Maatraan’ is touted as a sci-fi thriller. Kajal Aggarwal is playing Suriya’s interest and some important parts of the movie were shot in Russia. Music is by Harris Jayaraj.

Nippu overseas release by Supreme Movies, Praneeth Media

Bollywood flicks AWARAPAN has eventually released in AWARAPAN and surprisingly has been certified as an Urdu language film. Here's an exclusive look at the censor certificate that was given to the film by the Censor Board of Pakistan, creating history, being the first ever sanction for a contemporary mainstream Bollywood film. Not surprisingly, Awarapan released to a smashing response on Friday 6th July in cinemas across Pakistan with all shows being packed out.

Ananya is going to continue acting

Actress Ananya who has got engaged recently says that she will continue acting after her marriage as her beau has got no problems in continuing with her career. She still has got a couple of movies to complete before her marriage and will be ready to accept new projects even after marriage. Her fiance Anjaneyan also shared a similar view and believes that marriage is a not a reason to stop one from their career. Ananya's new films on cards includes 'Ameya', 'Masters', Mullamottum Mundhorichaaraum', 'The reporter', 'Nadodi Mannan' and 'Achan Balan Makan Bheeman'.

Dhanush is Kundan

A week back we read that Dhanush was set to make his debut in Hindi, by signing a film titled 'Raanjhnaa', to be directed by Anand L Roy. Now we have more details about the project, to be produced by Eros International. The name of the character Dhanush playing in this film is Kundan. "It is one of the interesting roles that I have come across. Though many Bollywood offers knocked my doors earlier, I politely turned them down. But I could not say no to this," says Dhanush. Meanwhile, Dhanush is happy that the making video of his anthem for Sachin Tendulkar has become an instant hit on the net. "I am a great fan of Sachin right from my school going days, this song is my tribute to him," he says. The National Award winning actor, close on the heels of the success of 'Why this kolaveri di...', has joined hands with music composer Anirudh one again, for this Sachin anthem. Giving company to him is Anushka. "I am grateful to Anushka for accepting my invitation on a short notice," he says.

Direcor Cheran and Vasanth in Kerala's jail

Cheran along with Director Vasanth were in Kerala and have been taken to jail. A special event was organised for inmates in Kerala's Trivandrum Central Prison, in which Cheran, Vasanth and actress Banu participated. The speciality of this prison is that, inmates here make food items like chappathi and others and are sold to open market. Cheran along with others tasted the food prepared in the prison.

Director AR Murugadoss, who is doing Thupaki has announced that he is holding the making of the film, until further announcement come. The shooting was going on in Mumbai, but all of a sudden Murugadoss has annonced that the making of the movie will be continued only after the FEFSI issue is settled amicably. This sudden announcement has sent shock waves across Kollywood and has angered Vijay' fans.

Genelia married Rithesh

Actress Genelia, who acted in Kollywood movies that include Boys, Santosh Subramaniam, Velayatham etc., today married fellow actor Rithesh Deshmukh. Both Genelia and Rithesh were in love for past few years. They got married in a lavish event held at Mumbai with the blessings of both of their parents. The budding director Vijayapadma captured attention when she made the film Narthaki. Now, it is heard that she is moving to the small screen and would be coming up with an eighty episode show based on Kabaddi. It is heard that this would be canned on teams that come from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli etc. Sources say an album was composed recently and this was done by Deva. The objective is to give a new boost to Kabaddi.

Karikalan' in trouble!!

Chiyaan Vikram who is currently busy with the much talked about period flick Karikalan may have to focus on his other projects for a while. It is heard that a petition has been filed by one K S Rajasekharan and the court has ordered a stay on the shooting. Apparently, Rajasekharan has claimed copyright issues and his ownership of the title. It is heard that director Kannan is in talks with the lawyers to take the next step. Vikram is reportedly busy with his Bollywood movie.

Maatraan is 70 % finished

KV Anand - Suriya Sivakumar's forthcoming 'Maatraan' is much expected due to reasons many. Nearly 70% of the shooting has been wrapped and as earlier reported some high voltage action scenes were canned in Chennai at a huge set erected in OMR. The team will be shortly leaving to Hyderabad to Ramoji Film City where a week's schedule has been planned. 'Maatraan' sees Suriya in several looks and the actor also got three tattoos in his hand for the film. It has Kajal Aggarwal opposite him with Isha Sharvani in an item number and Sachin Khedekar playing the bad guy. The film has been shot in several locales including Russia, Croatia and Macedonia. AGS Entertainment will release the film big in mid 2012. The film is touted to be Suriya's biggest release so far in his career.

Prabhu Deva - Nayantara call it quits?

With Nayantara signing a Telugu biggie opposite Nag and looking out for offers in Kollywood, it is said that Prabhu Deva and Nayantara who were all set to enter wedlock this year have called it quits and parted ways! Although such rumours have occurred several times in the past it was always followed by either of them rubbishing them. But Nayan accepting offers is only making these rumours seem true. The duo have been seeing each other from 'Villu' which was followed by Nayan tattooing his name and making public appearances together. Late 2010, Prabhu Deva had expressed he'll marry Nayan and thus after Prabhu's divorce with Ramalath, the media has been following Prabhu and Nayantara and a wedding was anticipated this year. Last year Nayantara had converted to Hinduism. It is now said that the duo weren't in good terms from a few months and have decided to part ways!

3 release postponed to April?

Earlier there were reports that Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya Dhanush's debut directorial venture 3, which has Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, will hit screens in the first week of February. But due to Producers Council new set of norms, which says that big films can be released only during five days a years, the makers of 3 have now decided to postpone the film to April. According o latest update, 3 will hit screens for Tamil New Year. All eyes are on the Kolaveri song to see how Dhanush and team has shot the cult song which created a global impact.The film is an emotional love story which will be different and catchy. In the film Dhanush will appear as Ram and Shruti Haasan plays the role of Janani. Debutant Anirudh is the music director.

Harris comes to Rahman's support

Harrish jeyaraj has viosed in support of AR rahman,over a controversy on the 'Hosanna....' song in Gautham Vasudev Menon's 'Ek Deewana Tha', the Hindi version of Tamil hit 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya'. Recently, a Christian forum opposed the song and demanded apology from Rahman and others concerned, besides seeking to delete the number from the movie. It felt since 'Hosanna' being a holy word, it should not be used in a film song. When asked about the issue, Harris Jayaraj, in his interview to a Tamil weekly, said, "We use such words only to get the blessings of the God and for nothing else. Even I had used words like Hosanna and Alleluia in my songs." On a recent buzz that he would soon work with his good friend Gautham Vasudev Menon, Harris said, "He continues to be my friend. But there is no talk of us working together again. Even recently, he invited me to the birthday function of his son and I attended it. That's it."
